Guarded by Howth Head to the North and Bray Head to the South, Dublin Bay offers some really interesting dives sites suitable for all levels of certified divers. Oceandivers run a boat dive service with our 8.5 meter RIB to the most popular dive sites from Dun Laoghaire, Scotsmans Bay, Dalkey Island and the Muglins Rock. Our dive season usually starts in early April and runs through till mid October depending on the weather. Although the visibility is never as good as the Atlantic coast, there is still a good range of marine life to enjoy. Dalkey Island is steeped in history and served as the entrance to Dublin during the Viking times, there are numerous great reefs around this beautiful island ranging in depths from 5 meters to 27 meters. Drift dives down Dalkey sound can be very exciting and Seal Bay on the NE side lives up to it's name with large colonys of Grey Seals sunbathing on the rocks!
The Muglins Rock lies just to the east of Dalkey Island and it's one of the most popular dive spots in Dublin Bay, the granite walls tumble steeply down to a depth of over 20 meters covered in carpets of filter feeders and populated by some really large lobsters.
This photo shows the Coral Garden site on the east of Dalkey Island with Plumose Anemones and Sponges covering every millimetre of the reef.
