Marsa Shagra is a bustling seaside village and definitely the most well-known of all the Marsa Alam destinations. It is the gateway to the south boasting one of the most beautiful house reefs in the Red Sea region. Whether you are a diver or just enjoy snorkeling, the house reef at Marsa Shagra features an abundance of marine life including a variety of coral & fishes, reef sharks, turtles, and sometimes even dolphins!
The diving programme of Red Sea Diving Safari in Marsa Shagra is designed to accommodate all levels of diving experience from beginner to advanced. There are options for unlimited house-reef diving, night diving, boat diving and speedboat diving to offshore reefs.
All divers are given a guided orientation dive on the fabulous house reef on arrival, and then you are free to dive unguided, within your certification limits, for the rest of your stay. The only time you will be fixed to a schedule is if you sign up to visit a dive site outside the house reef.
5 days unlimited house reef diving by shore or RIB. This package includes unlimited use of our house reef for five days, air and weights, plus 2 guided orientation dives if required on your first day on the house reef.
The house reef of Shagra Village features North and South reefs, which come together to form a natural sandy-bottomed bay accessible directly from the beach. It is home to hundreds of marine life species and an excellent variety of soft and hard corals. The bay of Shagra is shallow, starting from 1-10 meters in depth and slowly dropping as it reaches the outside walls of 40-50m in depth.
Optional 1 day excursion to Elphinstone Reef
Elphinstone is a 375m long, off-shore reef with drop-offs descending to over 100m. Elphinstone is ranked among the top ten dive sites in the world. The site features an abundance of soft corals and almost every kind of sea life can be seen here. The reef is angled slightly to the north, which causes a constant current over the northern and southern plateaus. These plateaus are an ideal location to catch a glimpse of different shark species like Oceanic White Tip, Scalloped Hammerhead, White Tip Reef, Grey Reef, Silver Tip and Thresher Sharks.
Marsa Shagra offers a mix of modern luxury and natural simplicity – the best of both worlds. There are up to 5 different accommodation categories with something for everyone's taste and budget.
